Well, it's reaching Hungary and strange things happen.

Massa's incident... wow, frightening and an incredible casuality. You seldom see a piece 'flying', you seldom see that piece 'flying'.

Massa was driving more or less at 230 km/h, very fast, the only part of his body which is not protected by the car it's the head, and the piece crashes against his head. Definetly, it's easier to win the national lottery.

But after all, Felipe has been lucky. I don't want to imagine what would have happen if the piece had crashed 5 cm under:

Luckily, it seems he is ok, but I don't think he can race tomorrow, so Kimi will be alone (After the qualifying session starts, drivers can't be replaced)

And McLaren's objective was achieved, both cars inside the top-6 (Even we had to wait some minutes to know the results Shocked )! Let's see the amount of fuel they have, but I am optimist. Top-5 is a feasible and real objective. Maybe a bit more depending on how the race will be.

Red Bull are my favourites, Alonso, Räikkönen, Rosberg and, why not, Hamilton and Heikki can fight for the podium. The rest will have to fight for a pair of points.

In Brawn-Mercedes people should be worried. They have difficulties to enter Q3 and a lot of teams are coming stronger...

I think the result tomorrow will be:

Webber
Vettel
Hamilton
Alonso
Kovalainen
Raikkonen
Rosberg
Button

Anyway I hope Felipe is ok...
can't Marc Genè substitute him for tomorrow?

I kept wondering how Felipe's helmet looks like after the crash.
Now that I've seen it (and his cut also), it just... It hurts just to look at it.

I've just heard about him having to have surgery. Which apparently is already over and went well and he's recovering in intensive care. That was updated in the last 5 minutes.
Get well soon Felipe.
And yes, it does hurt to look at that picture. I thought the helmets were stronger, but then again considering the speed he was going I think it did its job properly.
What was the piece of debris anyway? I know it was a part of Rubens's suspension, but what part exactly...
Poor little Massa. I feel sorry for his wife more than anyone else, she must be worried sick.

Quote:

Ferrari’s Felipe Massa will not race in Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix following his high-speed qualifying crash at the Hungaroring, the team have confirmed. Massa was airlifted to AEK Hospital in Budapest, where he is in a stable condition.

“Felipe was conscious at the arrival at the hospital,” said a Ferrari statement, adding that Massa had suffered a cut on his forehead, concussion and a bone lesion of the skull. Massa underwent surgery to treat these conditions, the outcome of which was positive. He will now remain under observation in intensive care.

The Brazilian speared off the track and into the tyre wall at Turn 4 late in the Q2 session after debris, thought to be a suspension spring from the Brawn car of Rubens Barrichello, struck his helmet.

Medics were quickly in attendance and the start of Q3 was delayed as they extricated the Brazilian. After initial examinations at the medical centre, Massa, eighth fastest in Q2, was transferred to hospital for further checks.

Ferrari are expected to release an update on Massa's condition on Sunday morning.

For those who don't know lesions are basically tumours, the terms are often interchanged by medical staff. But obviously with the success of the surgery he should be okay...

Yeah its a spring.
If that hit my head I'd want to keep it, is that weird?

YEEEEEEHAAAAAAA

What a great race! I was optimist about Hungary, but not so much, a podium seemed to be 'possible', but Hamilton has been almost perfect during all the race and at the end, we won the biggest prize.

I am glad and proud of all the work done in the factory which has let Hamilton to win the race. Absolutely amazing.

Heikki has raced in a very good way, he could have aimed for the podium, but in his faster moments he stuck behind Webber and podium was lost in those moments, but 5th place is a good result.

I hope 'German feelings' won't be very powerful in Haug's heart and Heikki will stay in McLaren in 2010.

On Bwin I won quite a lot of money. 9 € for Hamilton's win, and few € with other bets (Nico in top 6, Alguersuari finnishing the race).

Fantastic race. Hamilton deserved that win, although I don't like him very much, I'm happy for him, after a hard season. It's gonna be real great fight for the championships, I think Webber will be the winner at the end.

I doubt that Sad
Especially seeing Nico doing better than Heikki. I'm so worry about next year. I mean, is there any seat available in another team if his not with McL... Confused

oh wow what a fantastic race!!!!! it was good to see lewis back on the top step of the podium. i know it doesnt mean anything for this season but its a massive boost for the team, especially with heikki finishing fifth.

finally they have a car that can actually drive.

it was a shame about vettel though, i would have liked to see him fight for a podium. same goes for mark webber, wouldve been nice to see him get another win. seemed like the red bull guys werent on top form today in the pits.... and its doubly bad because webber and vettel need every point they can get if they are going to try and catch button.

anyways, was shocking what happened to massa, saw it on the telly and read about it in the papers. i hope he will be ok, all the news seems to be positive so far though.

Really scary when Fernando's wheel came off, expecially after last week.
At least he had slowed right down. He knew it was going to come off and made sure that there was no other drivers about when it did.
Still scary though.

Very happy for Lewis and McLaren Smile great boost to the team.
It's a very sorry state of affairs if McLaren can't get themselves onto the podium at least once in the season (we'll ignore Austrailia) and the top step is always the best step).

Official reports say Massa's condition is improving... good Very Happy
GET WELL SOON FLIP!

Sorry for the double post but Luca di Montezemolo has dedicated Ferrari's best result this season to the driver who wasn't there Smile
That's sweet.

And what do we think to Renault being suspended from the next race for Fernando's wheel fiasco?
