I watched the live practice and its quite exciting.
Fernando Alonso got fined for crossing the white line while entering the pit lane this afternoon. Very Happy
It seems to favour the Ferrari's, judging by the times. For the part of the session I watched Felipe Massa was a whole half a second up on Lewis Hamilton and almost a second on Heikki.
But the drivers have all said, although its a street circuit, its more Melbourne than Monaco.

But this is F1, anything can happen.

Interesting qualifying session.
I'm delighted to see Kimi in 4th,
but not so thrilled that Heikki's down in 5th.

What do we think?
Glock, 5 place grid drop for impeding?
I don't think so myself, I think he was trying to move, and both of the cars he was possibly impeding made it through to Q2.

Why has nobody else posted yet?

i realy hope massa doesnt get his victory stolen from him, not after that performance.

I think heikki did a good job today... but he also could have done alot more. he seemed to be closing down kubica towards the end of the race... but thats too little too late!!! you needed to do it sooner kovy!

although there were a few incidents, overall i thought the race was kinda.. i dunno.. not boring but it wasnt the most exciting race ever. i thought there would be alot more overtaking, i guess everyone was wary of running into the walls. also, only 1 safety car?

oh well at least lewis' championship didnt suffer heavily, also hes gained ground on raikkonen and mclaren are fiiiinally starting to hassle ferrari for the constructors title.

Massa gets to keep his win apparantly, and I think he really deserved it today, he was in a class of his own at the front.

Heikki did well, but I agree with Harry, he needed to start closing Kubica down earlier, although I'm not sure if he was actually trying to do that, or if he was just responding to Raikkonen.

All in all, a good race, but hopefully next year it will be more exciting now everybody knows the track and what to expect in a race situation.

God that was a boring race.... Shame, because I am sure the guys out there were trying their best, but seeing them spread out within 3 laps from the start made me turn my PC and play games while kinda keeping half an eye on the race... Well done to Felipe, shame for Kimi, but I must say I expected it to be boring, after watching GP2 races, and those guys, just like Martin Brundle said "are driving like today is their last day on earth" Very Happy Good circuit, but something didn't work out for us fans Rolling Eyes

What a load of *Mini refrains from swearing here*!
Massa should have been penalised.
It doesn't matter how well he drove,
He broke the rules.
Ferrari broke the rules.
The incident should have been investigated during the race and he should have had a drive through penalty!
If it was Lewis who had done it he would have been given a penalty.

I personally think the stewards and race control and even the FIA need investigating for favouring Ferrari!
It angers me so much!

wow. As I can see I´m not the only one who was bored during the race....

as Lady wrote, it´s a nice circuit but there was almost nothing to keep an eye on expect the track and its amazing surroundings......

and I agree Heikki could have done so much more. He started to push at the last stint. I don´t know why...maybe because he was afraid of the tyres? ...hard to say but it´s a pity. He could have reached the podium :-/

His drive was too conservative today. I´m a bit dissapointed to be honest. Rolling Eyes

I realised I didn't write anything about Heikki.
Or anyone other than Massa.
I was angry, I believe the FIA are biased.

I was bored for most of the race, up until the second round of the most exciting thing was Alonso and Nakajima's little collision.
Me and my dad were very disappointed that the only driver to stick his car into a wall was Sutil, and that wasn't even a very good crash.
Ferrari need to sort their engines out if they've had two blows in two races.

Heikki could have done more, and with the problems Kubica was having in the first stint should have easily got past him.
Maybe it was tires, we know the McLaren is tough on its tires...
And it was hot too... Ferrari territory.

Overall a very uneventful race.

Ferrari have serious reliability issues now.
Two engine blows in two races, caused by the same thing.
This is not good for them...
Which is great for me Smile

Ferrari's defence in the unsafe pit release is that Massa did lift so there was no accident and Sutil should have backed off, he was a back marker anyway.
I think this is a pathetic defence, Sutil had the right of way and Massa should have had to wait.

Boring race, if we don't take into account the incidents Ferrari suffered.

Nobody was able to 'do' anything. Good result for Lewis, Felipe and McLaren. It's hard for me to believe that we have options in the WCC. We've had 4-5 consecutive races with great results and McLaren-Mercedes is just 8 points behind Ferrari. Heikki is not unlucky now and he is able to fight for podiums almost in every race (They will come oftenly in the future). Hamilton is getting advantage from the car to achieve the WDC. It seems that the team is working in a very good way!

Belgium is always one of the best races of the season, I don't want to be dissapointed... we'll see.

About the poll... It's hard to judge. Anyway, marshalls are not going to risk (Both championships are really close) and they will avoid making difficult choices. They did the easiest thing.

hey a poll. i was wondering, how much time did massa lose to lewis after the safety car came out? would a drive through have cost massa his place since he had a substantial lead on lewis by then. i dont know ill have to check. is massa getting a penalty in belgium?

There wasn't a safety car was there?
Did my Sky+ omit a safety car?
Which would have been strange because it was recorded live.
And there wasn't a serious enough accident for there to be a safety car.
*Mini is confused*

At one point I think Massa had just over 10 seconds lead over Hamilton, which was cut by the pit stop, and I'm sure I remember one of the commentators saying a drive through would have cost him roughly 15 seconds, so Hamilton would have won.

And no, no penalty in Belgium. He was fined.

oh ok nevermind, i was mistaken, i was only half paying attention to the race at that point then when i heard "massa, drivethrough" i switched back on.

its kind of dumb i think now how lots of races only become really interesting when there is rain or some other random element thrown in, theres too many restrictions and rules put in by the fia.
