The Renault Formula One team issued the following press release on Wednesday:

The ING Renault F1 Team will not dispute the recent allegations made by the FIA concerning the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.

It also wishes to state that its managing director, Flavio Briatore and its executive director of engineering, Pat Symonds, have left the team.

Before attending the hearing before the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on 21 September 2009, the team will not make any further comment.

and what will happen if renault are found guilty of race-fixing?

Those kind of things are part of this sport...unfortunately.

In 2007 it was over for Ferrari's Nigel Stepney and McLaren's Mike Coughlan and it's over for Flavio and Pat.

I wonder how many of these things happened in F1 and nobody took care of it. People (and the FIA!) come to know these things only when a person of the team (or ex-member) confesses...as it was for Fernando in 2007, when he broke up with Ron Dennis and as it is now for Piquet.

its sad that in the last few years the centre of attention has been on the politics rather than on the track.

cant believe flavio and pat symonds are gone but then this whole sordid mess has been a.... well.... a sordid mess.

the sooner people forget about this the better. this only does damage to F1
