No confirmation.
From all the statements coming out of McLaren the past week or so, it's sounding as though it will be anyone EXCEPT Heikki. Lewis has said something along the lines of wanting to be respectful to a driver he considers to be a friend, and has refrained from commenting, others like Whitmarsh have said that they want to concentrate on wrapping up the season, so no announcement would be made until then.
I expect we'll know nothing until a week or two after Abu Dhabi. Current rumor mills all seem to point to Kimi or Jenson.
How many open rides are left at this point? I suppose I should make myself a chart if I can't find one... |

I have a distinct feeling that a lot of seat are still open. Even those who have a contract for next year can still change.
I'm pretty sure about three drivers: Massa, Alonso and Hamilton... All the rest remains 'wait and see' for me.
I think once things start moving, it will all follow pretty quick.

I'm even not sure about Webber and Vettel.
Because it has been a news topic that Red Bull racing got interested in Raikkönen when it was clear he was no longer needed or wanted at Ferrari.
But then ... there's a big gap between a team thinking about another driver and being able to get the other driver.

Yes, I think he should move to WRC.
He's not the same as in 2007. During this last two years he's been slower than Massa (even if I think Ferrari was supporting Felipe more than Kimi). _________________ "Ayrton Senna was an extraordinary racing driver. I don't think he will.
If he can get a drive anywhere else (which he can, he might not be as good as he used to be but he's still a world class driver) then he'll stay... _________________ Mini: 'How dare you go out when Monaco is on?!'

They have two solid drivers who were fighting well into the championship battle and thats why they're both contracted for next year. I'd be very surprised if they changed their driver line up. Vettel at least will stay... _________________ Mini: 'How dare you go out when Monaco is on?!'

Rosberg has said that he won't be racing for Williams in 2010, but he hasn't said where.
He has two options: McLaren or Brawn.
McLaren has 3 real options: Kimi, Nico, Heikki.
Heikki was asked in Belgium (I think it was in Belgium, maybe it was in Italy) about it and he said he wanted to comment nothing about that.
Then we reached a point in which it seemed Heikki was out of the team (Deductions about public words, nothing reliable but it can give you some clues), but suddenly in Japan Whitmarsh changed his words and they were very supportive through Heikki.
I think that happened because the contract with Kimi was almost done and then the money was a problem, so McLaren had to look for another option.
Haug has always said that he likes Nico for the team.
Heikki will stay if Nico and Kimi say 'no' for any reason. McLaren silence and Williams silence could suggest a drivers change: Heikki to Williams and Nico to McLaren. Heikki could share team with Hulkenberg in 2010.
That's my guess. |

Q: (Jonathan Legard – BBC Sport) Question for Kimi: you talk about your options. I just wondered how important it would be if you decided to stay in Formula One, if you found another team, that you could do some rallying as well, like you did with Ferrari or whether that’s something of a stumbling block, wanting to do another form of motor sport as well as doing Formula One?
KR: It’s definitely going to be Formula One, it’s going to be in the contract that I’m allowed to do it (rallying). |
i also read at autosport that heikki could be one option for toyota!!! _________________

Yes, Toyota has two 'free' seats for 2010.
It seems Barrichello sounds for Williams. |
