Wow, strange qualifying.
It's everything so close this year that a track can clearly show the strong parts and the weaknesses of every car. One day you are on the top, next day you struggle and you are not able to aim for Q3.
For McLaren, if we don't have rain, points if possible, if the track starts being slippery, Hamilton and Kovalainen are very good in wet conditions and maybe we can aim for a top-5. (If the race doesn't become a huge mess)
By the way, rumours begin to be strong in most of the teams and fields, and I have the feeling Heikki's future, if it's not decided, it will be decided in the next 2 or 3 races. And:
| Quote: | Q: (Will Buxton – Australasian Motor Sport News) Heikki, it’s getting to that point of the year when everyone is talking about driver contracts for next year. As far as we are aware McLaren haven’t taken up their option on you yet, so what are you looking at for next year? Are you talking with other teams? How are things looking?
HK: Well, first of all I will not talk about the contractual situation here in public. I did once this year which I regret. |
Any feeling? |

Interesting race today for the Championship, the victory, the podium and the points zone. It's been really open.
Heikki has driven in a very good way, possibly one of his best races this season, I am happy and I keep believing he will continue in the team, but I don't know if that depends on the last results he will get.
These last 2 months are going to be of high voltage, who will win? How will be the drivers placed in 2010? A lot of movements are possible.
The Championship was very boring, but it has changed dramatically, now it's pretty enjoyable. |

It has been hardly analyzed and criticized by most people, this a video which analyzes 'Le Source movements':

A mistake mustn't concede an advantage, and in this case, it was conceded, so at least we can say it's not fair.
I am even suspicious, because Badoer (The other Ferrari, second 30) doesn't show intention of turning into Le Source, he goes directly straight to take the 'offtrack'.
The first chicanne of Monza always shows problems, if somebody cuts it, gains positions and is penalized there can be a lot of complaining.
I remember 2006 when M.Schumacher cut in Hungary the chicanne several times and then the drivers asked C.Whiting if that was legal, and Charlie said: 'Yes, if it's not done too many times'. (How many times is 'not too many times?)
2 years later, we saw Hamilton cutting a chicanne (Not on purpose, he was a bit forced to do that to avoid a collision against Kimi), returning the position and he was penalized and stripped from the victory because the stewards considered that he had gained an advantage with the movement.
If Räikkönen were driving for another team different from Ferrari, the FIA could still take, maybe, some actions.
In any case, Räikkönen drove in a very good way and his victory is not unfair, but these movements and those 'road offtracks' should dissapear. |

Does anyone else think the Ferrari running off the track in the first corner and gaining two places because of it is deserving of a penalty... last year a McLaren got one for less... |
maybe its because kimi ran wide and the stewards didn't think it seemed like he cut a chicane
heikki did such an awesome job 15th to 6th...what a drive!
and a great result for force india too _________________ YAY FOR FORMULA 1!!! |
