I don't think he was ever planning to come back.
Maybe it was a stunt by the FIA to get more people to buy GP tickets...
Who knows? But I'm a big fan of a conspiracy theory.

well its easy to read much more into this than there actually is. all this could be very true.... but it could also be the fact that schumacher is very loyal to ferrari and given the choice between 3 possible reserve drivers with one of them being a multiple world champion the choice is basically a no-brainer.

although im sure bernie "did somebody say money" ecclestone will be very pleased at all this (probably going to + the ratings by millions) i think this was simply a case of 'best-man-for-the-job'.
