|
|
| Quote: | Testing continued today for McLaren Mercedes and the five additional teams working at the Jerez circuit in Spain. Although the dampness of the morning lifted with the appearance of the sun, the ambient temperatures remained cold for the rest of the day.
Heikki Kovalainen got his first taste of slick tyres, low downforce and KERS when he began his 2009 testing programme in the MP4-23K car. He was on the pace immediately, adapted very well and was able to provide good feedback to the engineers. The Finn set the sixth-quickest lap at 1:19.631.
Pedro de la Rosa focused on the MP4-23A, concentrating on aerodynamic work with the team's first attempt at running a 2009-configuration nose; the evaluation proved to be extremely positive. The team's reserve driver recorded a best personal lap of 1:19.032, the fourth-best time of the day.
Tomorrow, the drivers switch cars and conclude this week's three-day programme at Jerez.

Buemi seems unstoppable!
Anyway McLaren is outperforming Ferrari,BMW and Renault, so it's ok ^^
Heikki was running KERS (on the first day it was Gary Paffett) and Pedro was running '09 front wing (which seems less radical than BMW). They had no mechanical issues, while Williams had a failure with KERS probably, while Nakajima was having a long run on the first day of testing. _________________ "Ayrton Senna was an extraordinary racing driver.
