German GP 18-20 of July 2008

In first Practice Hekki made a very impressive lap (1:15.666) with which he took the 2'nd place in classification behind his partner - Lewis..

Just watched 2nd practice. Lewis is still at the top of the timesheets, Heikki managed a 1:15.990 putting him 4th, this weekend looks promising for him.

I just hope we get to see a wetrace again, just like in Silverstone. I like these kinds of races, where it's not that important, what kind of car you have. And I'm from Germany - after watching the weatherforecast and looking out of my window, chances are not that bad... Wink

I like wet races, but when you can't remember off the top of your head how many there have been, you get a bit bored of them.
I would like another wet race, but maybe not for a month or so.

I'm looking forward to this weekend though.
Weathers predicted to be unpredictable, that's what I've heard.
(the above statement made more sense in my head).

Good look to Heikki,
and Lewis as well
McLaren fan for life!

Third on the grid, hopefully it'll end in a mclaren 1/2. We could seriously do with the points for the constructors.

Odd-side more clear beacause of trajectory.

I don't want rain - it may spoil Hekki's race...

They think Lewis is lighter than Heikki.
Lewis only got 8 seconds of fuel and Heikki got about 10.
Don't know what the Ferrari's are doing... but Felipe Massa looked strong.
But then again he's very inconsistent during races.
McLaren 1/2 *fingers crossed*
And I want it to be Heikki who wins.
Bad luck to Kimi Raikkonen down in 6th, my dad thought it was funny.

Heikki's been fined 5000 euros for breaking refuelling rules during qualifying.
When he was refuelling in qualifying two it wasn't an FIA approved refuelling system, and so the engine should have been stopped.
This must have been when he went out to do the extra lap.

This won't affect the grid for tomorrow though Smile
Good stuff.

I know its not much, I just thought you might want to know.

Good race, though to be honest I thought it was getting a bit boring before Glock's crash. Personally I think it was too easy for Hamilton up until that point, it was more like a day out to him than a race. My dad kept joking that he was going to stop and have a picnic (because my dad thinks he's hilarious).
It was more exciting after the safety car and with Hamilton having to take Massa and Piquet. It would have been great if Piquet had won, but once Hamilton took Massa it was inevitable that he would take Piquet, I don't think Piquet put up that much of a fight.
I thought Heikki did well and it was just luck that Heidfeld and Piquet got ahead, Heikki should have been third, but he said himself it was a difficult race for him.

Although it would have been better if Heikki was on the podium, from the point of view of a McLaren and Lewis fan, it was a good race. I like the look of the drivers championship standings at the moment Very Happy

To be honest up until timo crashed i wasnt paying complete attention to the race anymore, it seemed as though lewis had it wrapped up so easily. then after the safety car and the round of pits i was thinking, oh no whats going on???? But it was a good race i thought. welldone to piquet for getting on the podium even if some of it was down to luck and fortunate timing (but also careful driving and a strategy that paid off)

Heikki Kovalainen, McLaren (5th):
"A very difficult race for me. I had a good start and almost managed to pass Felipe but, unfortunately, my speed was not good enough, and I couldn't make the tyres work to their best. The Safety Car period didn't help me either, and I lost positions during my pitstop. Then I lost time behind Kubica. However, I managed to overtake him again two laps later and, from then on, it was a rather uneventful race. Fifth position was not what I had hoped to achieve here, but I am now looking forward to the Hungarian Grand Prix, where I will try my hardest to fight for a podium finish."

Who's your driver of the day?
Mine was Piquet, but then again, he mainly only achieved a podium because of good luck... so I guess Lewis. He did some great overtaking and he didn't lose his head when his strategy went a little bit wrong after the safety car.

id still say piquet has to be the driver of the day. lewis drove a fantastic race but so did nelson. it wasnt completly luck that he finished 2nd, it was also down to him not making any mistakes and keeping his car on the track.
