I don't actually understand why anyone would want to be a dentist.
Is it out of some insane desire to be hated by most of the worlds population?
Does anyone (except my brother) actually like the dentist?

I had two teeth out today, and it hurts a lot. And my gum wouldn't clot so I then had to go back and nearly had to have a stitch.
First adult teeth I've ever had out.
I'm proud of myself, because I am terrified of dentists.

I have to go back next week for the same thing but on the other side.

I apologise to anyone who is or personally knows a dentist. Very Happy

Have you seen how much dentists earn? Wink

I think it could be quite an interesting profession, but then I like medical stuff and there'd be a fair bit of that involved.

What I find infuriating about dentists in the UK is that it's almost impossible to find one that takes on NHS patients.

Anyway, hope you get over today's experience well, and good luck for next week!

I can see both points Smile They earn tons on money, but GOD it's a horrible job!!! just think of a few people around you whose mouth you definitely wouldn't like to see open wide, and it kind of beats the salary benefits hands down Rolling Eyes

They still hurt.
I love paracetamol at the moment Very Happy
I had to get my mum to buy some more, because we ran out when I pulled a muscle in my chest.

Just got the ability to eat back though, which is all good Very Happy
I don't think I've ever eaten so much in one day.
Well since I got my appetite back, I've been sick you see.
I'm not very good health wise.

Can't believe I have to go back next week, but then thats it for dental work, just orthadontal treatment then.
Damn.

I wouldn't do it.
Even for the money.
I think my dentist enjoys it though.
The look on his face when he was pulling my teeth out.
*shudders*

The next time I go see my dentist, I'll ask him about this. Laughing I have a very cool dentist. We talk about cars during the majority of the appointment time. I think they add extra time onto my appointments because they know we'll be yammering on about cars so much.

I've never minded it much. I've gone through just enough medically uncomfortable things in my life that I see much of it as a necessary evil and figure I just need to get on with it and get it overwith. No sense in dreading it too much or anything.

This week was worse than last week.
Not when I was actually there, but like now, because I know what I have to expect for the next week or so.
I can't even take any painkillers at the moment I'm in so much pain.
I hate it!
But at least that's the last lot of teeth I have to have out.

I hope I don't scare anyone away from the dentist.

i've got braces at the moment and they're not all that bad actually

the only annoying thing is when you get stuff caught in them and you have to get it out...not THAT can be bad...

i had to get 4 teeth pulled out before i got my braces and that was TERRIBLE...i sympathise with anyone who has to get teeth pulled out

being a dentist would be pretty gross because you get all these people who haven't brushed their teeth properly or have food caught between their teeth which is like, so gross Mad

I love that we're going through the same thing right now. I hate it when you eat out or when I eat in college and then I have to disappear to the toilets for 20 minutes to clean my brace.
And all of my friends said it was worse pain when you got them tightened the first time than when you first got them on and it just wasn't.

My advice to anyone who is getting braces soon... buy some Bonjela (or some other form of ulcer gel). It will be your best friend!

I got a cleaning pack with mouthwash, an orthodontic toothbrush, toothpaste, wax for when they rub and some little pointy brushes for cleaning under the wires because its hard to get at with your toothbrush. But I usually use them to clean my brace so I have one in the bathroom, one in my college bag and one in my usual handbag. They work quite well.
