I don't want to spilt the fun, but I fear I will...

BMW Sauber and Williams are under investigation of the Brazilian Grand Prix race stewards, autosport.com has learned.
Representatives of both teams were summoned to the stewards' office after their cars failed post-race inspection at Brazil.
The problem is believed to be in the tempature of the fuel samples taken from the cars of Williams's Nico Rosberg and BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld.
The trio finished the race in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
More details to follow...

I just don't want anything to happen. It's not that I don't want Lewis to win (hell, Lewis or Kimi, fine by me, as long as it's not Flonso!), I just want this season to end in style. And this was a race, which was thriller, a perfect race with a rather unsuspected championship winner.
The season has had so much controversy, don't add more to that please! _________________

Final ranking confirmed, no penalty for BMW and Williams.
Kimi Raikkonen is the World Champion.
F1 history: Brasil '95. Schumacher wins but there was something wrong with his Benetton fuel.
Benetton lost the points for the constructor championship but Micheal didn't for the Drivers Championship.
Only a rookie could have lost a title with 17 pts. with only two races missing. It's a pity for him but I think it's right in the end.
Ferrari was the best car and deserved the title(s).
But with Schumacher they would have won some races before...
Heikki's race: the worst way to close the season. He had a problem with a tyre but anyway he couldn't have done anything good yesterday.
Heikki's season: I expected something more from him. Ok, Renault was not competitive at all and he finished ahead of Fisichella but I'm not fully satisfied.
We'll see next year...
Bye bye! |

McLaren appeals so ... ? :$ I really hope they won't punish BMW and Williams! If they do so it is really clear they want to give the title to Hamilton!!
and Heikki He would have been the first rookie ever to complete all the races in his first year!!!!! But a suspension failure prevented it _________________ Stijn Vansteenbrugge

I've been away this weekend. Did I miss much?!
Actually, I watched the race with a load of friends at Mark's restaurant. While it was by no-means the result I wanted for my 3 boys, I still had a great time, especially as we were treated to a live video link-up with Mark before the race,
There's too much to comment on about the race, but wasn't it a great one? I thought for a while that Lewis may come back and do it after all - that was some great racing he gave us - but then it became apparent that he had a 3rd pitstop to do. Still, Kimi certainly deserved the championship, so good on him.
Great racing by the BMWs and Williams, too. I tink that if it had been any other race then they would have been penalised for the fuel irregularities, but even as a big Lewis fan I wouldn't want to see the last race and the WDC decided that way. I guess we'll never know though. _________________ Mark, Lewis, Heikki --> My ideal podium for the 2007 season.
Well you've all done it at least once boys, now how about being up there all together sometime next season?! |

I just read this today and it made my mouth fell open. Together with china, this is really the WORSE way of throwing away a championship. He has been driving so well this season and than make two huge mistakes in the last races.
From GPupdate
| Quote: | Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he lost the title due to a human error. The young Briton lost a lot of time when his car all of a sudden seemed to slow down, but after a while he managed to get it going. He fell back to P18 and had to work himself up the field again in order to fight for the championship title.
Speaking to French newspaper La Presse Hamilton said: "My finger slipped on the wheel and I accidentally pressed the button to start a starting procedure. The car went in neutral and I had to reinitialize the system in order to get going again."

What are you going to believe - a supposed quote to a French newspaper, or a statement from McLaren, as reported on Autosport?
| Quote: | McLaren have rejected suggestions that Lewis Hamilton's gearbox failure in the Brazilian Grand Prix was due to him pressing the wrong button on his steering wheel.
Hamilton was seen slowing down almost to a halt on lap eight of Sunday's race, dropping from sixth to 18th place, but was then able to regain speed.
The incident sparked rumours suggesting the 22-year-old pushed the wrong button on his steering wheel, which in turn left his car in neutral until he was given instructions over the radio how to reset the system.
Compounding these rumours was a report in Montreal's newspaper La Presse, which quotes Hamilton directly as saying he indeed pushed the wrong button.
However, a source close to the Hamilton family has described the report as "absolute rubbish", telling autosport.com that Hamilton has not spoken to the Canadian newspaper or said anything as such to anyone.
A McLaren spokesperson also denied the report and said the failure was not down to human error.
"We can confirm that the temporary gear shifting problem Lewis suffered on lap eight of the Brazilian Grand Prix was due to a default in the gearbox that selected neutral for a period of time," she said.
"It was not as a result of Lewis pressing an incorrect button on his steering wheel."
McLaren F1 CEO Martin Whitmarsh also ruled out driver error and said the likely reason is hydraulic valve failure.
"It was a gearbox problem, and it went into forced-neutral and changing down seemed to rectify it - it might be mechanical, but we doubt it," he told Autosport magazine.
"If it was something mechanical, they usually don't fix themselves. It could be electronics software - but there's no evidence in the analysis to support that. Could be a sensor - but again, there's no evidence in the data recordings.
"So it would appear that the barrels that change gear went out of control - and out of control of the driver - and that's probably hydraulic.
"That could be either a very small Moog servo control valves that were interfered with by a tiny piece of debris or they are sensitive to magnetic interference - something generated a magnetic field which caused the valve to misbehave." |

I don't know who to believe eiter
It wouldn't surprise me if McLaren brought out this statement out just to make everyone trying to believe that is was mechanical failure that caused the drama, instead of the somewhat silly button-thing. But Lewis himself said it, so it's not a rumour coming out of nowhere.... _________________ If you think racing is safe, than you're not going fast enough... |
