Heikki about next week-end, which Cécile (kimiraye) and I will attend
This will be your first Belgian Grand Prix at Spa. Are you excited?
Yes, very excited! Spa is a fantastic circuit, and I have very good memories from my races in GP2. The track layout is very nice, with lots of elevation changes and some really good sequences of corners which put the drivers and the engineers to the test. It is certainly one of the best races of the year, and a fantastic challenge for the drivers – especially through the famous section of Eau Rouge.
You tested at this circuit in July. Was it important to do so?
It is always an advantage when you can test at a circuit before racing there, and especially because the team didn’t race here last year – and we had never run the V8 engine at this circuit. It allowed us to establish the baseline set-up in terms of downforce levels, suspension settings, brake bias and so on… I think we found some good answers, and we will have a good starting point to work from throughout the weekend in order to have a competitive car in qualifying and the race.
Why do you think drivers enjoy the challenges of Spa so much?
This is what I would call an old-style circuit. Not in terms of the facilities, which have been improved a lot this year, but in terms of the track design. There are many demanding, high-speed corners and this is a real driver’s circuit, where we can make a big difference at the wheel. Even if the car does not have the perfect set-up, or if it is not the fastest on the grid, a very brave driver can go into the corners faster, accelerate earlier or not lift where others do. This is a circuit where you can really see who the good drivers are. _________________ Stijn Vansteenbrugge

And they all finished in the points! Especially great work for Heikki to hold off Kubica towards the end of the race
Hopefully a few more people will sit up and take notice of Adrian Sutil now too! _________________ Mark, Lewis, Heikki --> My ideal podium for the 2007 season.
Well you've all done it at least once boys, now how about being up there all together sometime next season?! |

Yes, another point for Heikki Another point ahead of fisichella.
Heikki himself wasn't really satisfied with the race and I can agree with that. He had a good start, but than you would love to have more than a 8th place
From F1racing
Heikki Kovalainen said about his race: "It felt like I drove half of the race with my mirrors today - and when I had a clear track, the car was too heavy to be able to do the lap-times we needed to make our strategy work. To be honest, with a different strategy, I think we could have achieved a better result today because the car was definitely more competitive than it looked. After doing the long runs on Friday, we thought our pace was enough to make the one-stop strategy work, but it just didn't work out today. But that's life - sometimes, you calculate that the risk is worth taking, and it doesn't pay off. I had a fantastic start, but after that, I was just defending all the way through. There was a lot of wheel-to-wheel action but personally, I think that kind of thing is more fun when you are attacking!" _________________ If you think racing is safe, than you're not going fast enough... |

Yeah Heikki's start was very good. It's a pity that it was only one point at the end.
Apart from the battle Heikki vs Kubica, the race was boring, wasn't it? |

As I told to 'Lady' I felt sad that I didn't had media accredition for this fantastic event. Many times visited and took photographs on Spa but this a step to high for now.
It would be nice to share some pics on this website.
Anyway Im happy with the results. Ferrari world champion ( and no they dont have to blame their self )
A few drivers did a very nice job!
- Raikkonen
- Rosberg
- Webber
- Kovalainen
- Sutil
I think Spa is the ultimate track on this 2007 calendar to show how good the drivers are. _________________ ¤ Forza Ferrari ¤ |

Ok, the strategy was wrong this time. It happens.
But we had the chance to see Heikki's talent in a different situation.
He was hard enough defending his position against faster drivers but he didn't run unuseful risks: very well, especially in the last part vs. Kubica.
About the race: the first Eau Rouge was exciting. What a kick down for Alonso! Incredible!!! |
